Middagh Residence

A full restoration and expansion of one of the original wood buildings in Brooklyn reimagines the house while reinforcing its historic character.

The front façade is refined through the removal of non-original dormers and the introduction of new dormers and traditional two-over-two wood windows. At the rear, the structure is opened up with the demolition of the existing addition and garage, replaced by a three-story addition and a glass-brick greenhouse that extends the living space into the garden.

A new below-grade level is created through full lot excavation, allowing for a below grade swimming pool, sauna and wet bar recreation room.
